UNHCR Global Trends: Forced Displacement in 2018 Data This dataset contains 29 data tables on global trends in forced displacement in 2018. The number of displaced people was nearly double the 2010 number of 41 million (see Figure 1) and an increase from the 2018 number of 70.8 million. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrates how unexpected events can affect forced displacement predictions. 5.6 million displaced people returned to their areas or countries of origin, including 5.3 million internally displaced persons and 317,200 refugees.
